Sign #1: Poor Mobile Optimisation

If your gym website looks good on desktop computers and laptops but comes out all messed up on mobile devices, then you could be losing a lot of sales without even knowing it.

You see, over 50% of website traffic worldwide comes from mobile. This means that if your website is not designed to work properly with mobile devices, then you’re effectively missing out on a massive opportunity to get more sign ups for your gym.

So, check your gym website now using your phone. Does it properly resize to fit the screen? Do the elements rearrange themselves without ruining the layout? Is the text still big enough to read?

No matter how good your website looks, it wouldn’t do your gym any good if nobody knows about it. So, you need to find a way to get it in front of prospects—and SEO is a great way to do that.

But what exactly is SEO?

Simply put, SEO is the act of crafting and structuring all the written, picture and video content on your website in a way that would get search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing to rank it higher—ideally within the first page—in search results.

If you get a bad rating, then it’s time to either optimise it or have a new, better one built. Sign #4: Terrible User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Design

If you want your website to bring you more members for your gym, you need to make sure it is designed to do just that.

This means everything on it—from the design and layout to the copy and calls to action—should naturally guide the prospect to the action you want them to take. There shouldn’t be anything that could distract them from it.

Of course, this also means you need to make everything as intuitive as you can. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for the prospect to find what they need and do what they want—which you can do by:

  1. Using descriptive navigation buttons
  2. Logically organising your pages
  3. Removing pages and pieces of content that the prospect doesn’t need
  4. Strategically placing call-to-action buttons throughout your website
  5. Using easy-to-understand language throughout your website

Sign #5: Insufficient or Incorrect Website Traffic

If you’re not getting enough traffic—or getting a lot of the wrong people to visit—then that’s a good sign that your website is suffering from one or more of the first four issues I’ve shown you today.

You see, a properly designed and optimised website would naturally attract more and more of your target customers over time—even if you don’t spend any money advertising it.

Of course, this doesn’t at all mean you shouldn’t invest in advertising. I’m just saying that before you do, you should make sure your website is built and optimised for conversions so you can get more bang for your advertising buck.
